Anya Ku, photographer
Anya, 21, has lived in Oakland almost all of her life; she is a proud product of the Oakland public school system and the Peralta Community College system. She graduated from UC Berkeley in 2017, and will be attending Berkeley Law in the fall to study public interest law.
Anya has been practicing photography professionally for over four years, and has established her own photography business, Kutography. Through Kutography, Anya has done volunteer photography work for many local organizations, including Oakland Technical High School and Girls Inc. of Alameda County.
Elazar Sontag, writer
Elazar, 19, is a writer, cook, and student who has trained in several renowned Oakland restaurants (Pizzaiolo & Duende). Elazar is passionate about food justice, and he previously compiled a book on sustainable farming in partnership with The Local Butcher Shop in Berkeley. He uses food as a catalyst for conversation in his freelance writing work. He is currently studying at Bard College in New York. Check out his personal website for more.
